Five Great North Shore Steakhouses You Need to Try Tonight!
While there are many steakhouses on Long Island that deserve a visit at least once, I have compiled a list of 5 steakhouses I consider a must-visit when you’re on the North Shore of Long Island.
Peter Luger Steakhouse
255 Northern Blvd. Great Neck, NY
With its doors originally opened in 1887, this family-run steakhouse is known for providing the true “New York” steakhouse experience. Over the years, Peter Luger has made many “best-of” lists mainly for the simple quality of its entire menu.
My personal recommendation for all visitors is to start with Peter Luger’s bacon appetizer along with the beefsteak tomato & onion. This appetizer is perfectly complemented with Peter Luger’s famous steak sauce.
Their mouthwatering specialty is a prime dry-aged porterhouse steak grilled to perfection and served alongside equally delicious sides. My wife and I love the creamed spinach and Luger’s special German fried potatoes as a side.
By the time your steak of choice arrives, you’ll be overwhelmed with the simple complementary perfection of every flavor on the menu.
When you make it to dessert, don’t slow down. Go for the chocolate mousse with Luger’s special homemade “Schlag”, which is their rich whipped cream.
Bryant & Cooper Steakhouse
2 Middle Neck Road, Roslyn, NY
Bryant & Cooper is the perfect image of a New York steakhouse with its woody interior and its cozy, unpretentious atmosphere. From the moment you enter the restaurant until the moment you finish your meal, the staff will remain attentive to your needs. So it’s pretty easy to say that you’ll have a comfortable experience. Many local Roslyn & Manhasset families have standing Saturday night reservations and regularly celebrate family events in this familiar local restaurant.
As for the food, it speaks for itself. While their porterhouse steak for two, three, or four is a no-brainer, their prime sirloin and filet mignon are excellent alternatives. The steakhouse is also the perfect dinner location if you have a craving for outstanding seafood. You can have a crack at the stone crab claws or dig into mouthwatering linguine with white clam sauce. You also have options of sautéed corn, mashed potatoes, fried zucchini, and Lyonnaise potatoes to go along with the steak.
If you prefer to enjoy a Bryant & Cooper meal at home, visit their butcher next door to pick up your favorite cut of meat that’s custom packaged for your family. Their friendly butchers will give you specific instructions to make sure your meal is cooked to perfection!

The restaurant opened its doors back in 1907 and was run by Charles and Franziska Rothmann. From there on, the restaurant became a magnet for celebrities, politicians, and other important people. In fact, you will be interested to find out that the place was once Burt Bacharach’s choice restaurant during the 1970s.
Some of the most memorable dishes on their menu include the 24-ounce bone-in rib steak and the porterhouse steak grilled to perfection.
